Your data stays on your phone

RadioBurn is a cellular usage monitor for Android. The default is simple: everything stays on your device. Cloud sync is optional and off until you choose it.
What does RadioBurn store on my phone?
When you use the app, it keeps these records locally:
- How many cellular bytes you used this cycle and today — the same numbers Android Settings uses.
- Per-app foreground and background totals, if you grant Usage Access.
- Network snapshots while monitoring runs: connection type (3G, 4G, 5G), signal strength, and live download speed.
- Individual megabyte events that draw the timeline, plus any gaps if the monitor was stopped.
- Cell tower locations for the optional map — only if you grant location permission.
- Your settings: billing cycle start day, optional data cap, which SIM to track, and whether block mode is on.
What does RadioBurn not collect?
- We never read your SIM card identity number.
- We do not send your usage off the phone unless you opt into cloud sync.
- There is no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics in the app.
Why does it need these permissions?
- Usage Access — so per-app totals match what you see in Android Settings.
- Phone — to read connection type, signal strength, and which SIM is your default data line.
- Notifications — to show a small persistent monitor with today's usage and live speed.
- Battery unrestricted — so aggressive battery savers do not silently stop tracking and leave gaps.
- Location (optional) — only for the cell map feature. Signal strength does not need location.
- VPN consent (optional) — only if you turn on block mode. This is a local on-device filter, not a tunnel to our servers.
What if I turn on cloud sync?
If you create an account, cycle summaries you choose to sync are sent to RadioBurn servers so they can appear on another device of yours. You can skip the account entirely — tracking works without it.
What about this website?
The site at radioburn.com does not set tracking cookies. It exists to explain the app and host the official APK download until RadioBurn is on Google Play.
